USA 1859-1909 Indian Head Cent Very Good-Very Fine 12-Coin Set (Dates of our choice)

The quintessential all-American coin, instantly conjuring up images of cowboys, outlaws, gunfights, wagon trains and rugged landscapes, the iconic Indian Head Cent is a genuine artefact of the Wild West!

Designed by the 4th Chief Engraver of US Mint, James B Longacre, and considered by many to be one of the USA’s most beautiful coins, the Indian Head Cent was issued from 1859 to 1909. Bearing the portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a Native American headdress upon the obverse, the Indian Head Cent was struck during the USA’s Westward Expansion, playing a key role during the US 1861-65 Civil War.

The financial chaos and immense fear and uncertainty created by the ‘War between the States’ saw virtually all coinage hoarded out of circulation. Along with privately issued tokens, the Indian Head Cent was crucial in facilitating day-to-day transactions. The type remained popular after the conflict as well, and could be found in any pocket through the Reconstruction Era, the turn of the 20th century, and beyond.

Benefitting from a significant hoard find in the USA, we recently secured a substantial batch of this iconic, beloved and highly collected US type. As a result, we have been able to assemble a number 12-coin sets – with each set comprising TWELVE DIFFERENT DATES! Issued from 1859 to 1909 and struck at the Philadelphia & San Francisco Mints – dates & mints of our choice – the opportunity to own 12 different Indian Head Cent dates must not be missed.
