The first victory came in 1972, when Mt Panorama was a 500-mile race, driving solo in a Holden Torana GTR XU-1. He went on to leave the record books in tatters, winning in 1975 in a Torana SL/R 5000 with Brain Sampson, 1978 & 1979 in the Torana A9X with Jim Richards, 1980 in a VC Commodore with Jim Richards, 1982 & 1983 in a VH Commodore, 1984 in a VK Commodore with Larry Perkins, and in 1987 in a VL Commodore with Peter McLeod and David Parsons.
