Acknowledging the great courage of Australian service personnel during wartime, this replica medal pays homage to the Queen Elizabeth II Military Cross. Originally instituted during the reign of George V, in 1914, the Military Cross was awarded to British Empire forces in recognition of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land.
