Australia George VI 1939-52 £1 Complete 4-Note Collection Uncirculated
A seldom seen opportunity, we are delighted to present the COMPLETE King George VI £1 Note Set – in Uncirculated condition!
Known as a ‘quid’, the £1 was the note used most used in everyday life. The high rate of circulation has had a material impact on the number of surviving examples. With a lifespan of around a year, hundreds of millions of £1 notes were consigned to the Treasury furnaces. Of those escaping that fiery fate, only a tiny percentage remain in top grade.
Headlined by the rare, unique 1938 Sheehan/McFarlane £1, and also including the very scarce 1942 Armitage/McFarlane £1, 1949 Coombs/Watt £1 and final issue 1952 Coombs/Wilson £1, the George VI £1 series is rarely united as a complete set – especially in the strictly Uncirculated condition seen here.
An important piece of Australian history, the chance to secure the George VI 1938-52 Complete £1 4-Note Collection in this supreme state of preservation must not be missed.
