Great Britain Freddie Mercury 2025 £5 Cupro-Nickel Brilliant Uncirculated Coin

Capturing the spirit, the passion and the energy of one of the greatest performers to grace the stage, this official Royal Mint issue forms a stunning tribute to the iconic Freddie Mercury.

Born Farrokh Bulsara, Mercury fled to England from Zanzibar with his family in 1964, following the Zanzibar Revolution. In 1970, he, along with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, formed Queen. With Mercury the most flamboyant of frontmen, Queen became one of the most famous bands in the world, producing a string of iconic hits throughout the 70s and 80s. Mercury died 1991, aged 45, due to complications associated with AIDS, but his legacy is eternal. He was, and will always be, a true legend of music.

Struck to the Royal Mint’s rigorous Brilliant Uncirculated standard, this official British legal tender tribute to Freddie Mercury spans 38.61mm in diameter. The imposing flan forms the consummate canvas for the portrayal of Mercury in full flight, mid-performance at the top of his game. An officially licensed product, produced in collaboration with Mercury Songs Ltd, each coin is housed in official Royal Mint packaging recounting the charismatic singer-songwriter’s life and career.
