Australia $5 Banknote Uncirculated 6-Note Type Set
Every standard $5 note type – in Uncirculated quality!
Utterly comprehensive and superbly presented, this set includes all six standard Australian $5 banknote types in strictly Uncirculated quality!
An all-encompassing collection, the set is headlined by Australia’s very first $5 banknote type. First seen in 1967, a year after the introduction of decimal currency, this banknote type is recognised by the ‘Commonwealth of Australia’ banner. Very scarce in premium grade, the 1967-72 Commonwealth type was replaced by the paper 1974-91 $5 ‘Australia’ banner type, with the banner changed by the Whitlam Labor Government to assert greater independence from Britain.
The Australian Polymer Revolution began in the late 1980s, and in the early 90s, the nation’s first polymer $5 banknote was issued. Light purple in colour, the 1992-95 Polymer First Colour note was supplanted by the 1995-2016 Polymer Second Colour $5, to distinguish the denomination more clearly from the $10 note. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Australian nationhood, the 2001 $5 Federation Centenary note was issued – Australia’s 2nd commemorative banknote type, and ONLY $5 commemorative note type! Completing this fascinating series, the Next Generation $5 polymer type was unveiled in 2016.
A fitting standard of presentation for this prestigious collection, each Uncirculated 6-note set is housed in a high-quality, informative, hardback portfolio – signatures of our choice. With many of these key types now very scarce in top grade, and therefore always a struggle to assemble many sets, immediate action is a must.
