Australia Battle of Kapyong 75th Anniversary 2026 50c Cupro-Nickel Uncirculated Coin

Australia Battle of Kapyong 75th Anniversary 2026 50c Cupro-Nickel Uncirculated Coin

Honouring a key chapter in Australia’s involvement in the 1950-53 Korean War, this unique, one-year-only Australian legal tender type marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.

Taking place from the 22nd to the 27th of April, 1951, the Battle of Kapyong pitted the United Nations forces from Australia, Canada, Britain, New Zealand and the US against China’s People’s Volunteer Army (PVA). Comprising about 700 men each, Australia’s 3 RAR and Canada’s 2 PPCLI bore the brunt of a fierce Chinese assault as they attempted to break through the Kapyong Valley. Against all odds, the UN forces prevented the 20,000-strong PVA from taking the valley, and thus foiled the Chinese/North Korean bid to capture the South Korean capital, Seoul.

Honouring a battle regarded as the most famous action undertaken by Australian forces during the Korean War, this official Royal Australian Mint issue features a floral design inspired by traditional Korean lattice frames. A poignant, richly symbolic touch, the reverse motif also features 32 poppies – one for each of the Australian servicemen who died during the Battle of Kapyong.

Beyond its obvious attraction as an affordable, powerful military commemorative, this official legal tender coin will naturally be targeted by passionate decimal collectors. Why? Because, not to be issued for circulation and never to be found in change, the Battle of Kapyong 75th Anniversary 2026 50c Cupro-Nickel Uncirculated Coin is a must-have for a complete collection!

With the mintage set at a mere 40,000, and our allocation sure to sell out at speed, we must impose a limit of three coins per household. Click add to cart now!
