Australia Decimal Currency 60th Anniversary 2026 6-Coin Proof Set

Australia Decimal Currency 60th Anniversary 2026 6-Coin Proof Set

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Australian decimal currency, and headlined by TWO unique, one-year-only commemorative types, we are delighted to present the Royal Australian Mint’s 2026 6-Coin Proof Set!

Symbolising the greatest change in Australia’s monetary history, February the 14th 1966 saw the formal introduction of decimal currency. Although millions of the old coins and banknotes had to be replaced with Australia’s sparkling new decimal currency, three years of planning and public education meant that the transition to the much simpler decimal system was remarkably smooth.

An official issue of the Royal Australian Mint – an institution specifically created to facilitate the changeover – the 2026 Proof Set unites six Australian legal tender coins. Struck to impeccable Proof standard, four of those coins – 5c, 20c, $1 & $2 – carry the traditional designs of their denomination. Capturing both sides of Australia’s ‘currency crossroads’, the 10c and 50c are anything but traditional! Inspired, innovative works of numismatic art, the 50c portrays the key design elements of our predecimal coinage, with the 10c depicting the outlines of our decimal coins! Importantly, this is the first 10c in a standard Proof Set to carry a commemorative design on the reverse!

Undoubtedly one of the most important releases of the year, the 2026 Proof Set is typical of the quality of all official Royal Australian Mint issues. Protecting the exquisite Proof quality for the long-term, the six coins are individually encapsulated, and then united within an official case, complete with an informative booklet.
