Struck exactly 100 years ago, the 1926 Half Moon Halfpenny is distinguished by a crescent-shaped line running through Bertram Mackennal’s portrait of King George V on the obverse. This line was caused by a crack in the die, with, intriguingly, another die crack causing a line running from the back of the King’s crown. Thus, this type is sometimes referred to as a Half Moon/Pigtail Variety!
