George V 1921P Gold Sovereign PCGS MS63 (Choice Uncirculated)
Scarce, historic but still surprisingly affordable in premium grade, we have one example of the King George V 1921P Gold Sovereign graded by leading 3rd party verifier PCGS at MS63 – the equivalent of Choice Uncirculated condition!
Distinguished by the P mintmark, found on the reverse with Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George design, the 1921P was struck at the Perth Mint. A prolific producer of gold sovereigns from 1899 until 1931, the Perth Mint struck 2.31 million sovereigns in 1921. While this figure is not insubstantial, the number of surviving examples is tiny. As with all 1920s sovereigns, a vast majority of the mintage would have been melted down for the gold value, including the huge number shipped overseas to pay Australia’s wartime debt.
The most affordable Australian-struck 1921 Sovereign in Choice Uncirculated condition, with the 1921S cataloguing at $6,000 and the 1921M cataloguing at $60,000, the chance to secure this supreme example of the 1921P must not be ignored. Click add to cart now!
